OUR TIME - SHORT FILM
-COMPLETED-
"Silent confinement reveals the echoes of identity and loss."
ABOUT
“Our Time” is a surreal psychological drama that captures the fragile moments between self-awareness, internal conflict, and emotional surrender. Set in a confined space where identity begins to blur, the story follows two figures—Joseph and Cynthia—as they wrestle with existential questions, guilt, and the nature of presence.
This short film examines the quiet turbulence of suicidal ideation, inner duality, and the weight of silence when it speaks louder than words.
Joseph and Cynthia
Joseph: A quiet, emotionally exhausted man on the edge of surrender. Joseph is introspective, haunted, and longing for answers that seem to slip further from reach the more he asks. His body is confined, but his mind drifts into philosophical and emotional unrest.
Cynthia: A masked figure who mirrors Joseph’s pain and challenges his sense of truth. Cynthia exists as both witness and reflection. Her tone shifts between nurturing, confrontational, and curious, suggesting that she may not be entirely separate from him.
Synopsis
Joseph lies in silence inside a padded room, consumed by thoughts he cannot quiet. Across from him sits Cynthia, a masked figure who seems to know more than she should. As they speak, it becomes clear that this is no ordinary conversation.
The two navigate memory, shame, mortality, and the emotional impact of absence. Each moment edges closer to a larger revelation, as their mirrored pain gives way to an uncomfortable truth.
Our Time is a visual conversation between two voices—one searching for peace, and the other asking if that peace is ever truly possible.
Genre & Style
Our Time is a short-form psychological drama with surreal and symbolic elements. The film unfolds inside a confined mental space and explores identity fragmentation through minimalist performance and stark dialogue. Emotionally driven and theatrically framed, the piece leans into experimental storytelling with a slow build of tension and reflection. It combines existential themes with poetic repetition and visual stillness, encouraging viewers to sit in discomfort and question the voices within themselves.
The atmosphere is dreamlike, yet grounded. The dialogue is sparse but heavy with implication. With no music and minimal camera movement, every gesture and glance becomes its own kind of punctuation. The result is a quiet but intense meditation on mortality, perception, and inner truth.
